Sold Three Mast Barquentine “Royal Helena“

Sold Three Mast Barquentine “Royal Helena“

In cooperation with Sea Independent Portugal we are proud we sold this Tall Ship to the Armada de la Republica Dominicana.

Over the last few month we successfully made a bid to a tender issued by the Armada de la Republica Dominicana. The tall ship “Royal Helena” we had for sale was the ideal candidate for the Dominican Navy as a sail training vessel for its cadets and officers. Now renamed “Maria Trinidad Sanchez”, a heroine from the wars of independence of the Republica Dominicana, she now proudly flies the flag that designed by the same Maria Trinidad Sanchez.

With a length, including bowsprit, of 54 meters and a GT of 254 she was built in 2009 in Bulgaria and served as a sail training vessel ever since. She has berths for 38 cadets and transatlantic range.

After an inspection in Holland, she was readied in Amsterdam with logistical assistance by Sea Independent and sailed to Vigo in Spain for delivery. From there a joined Bulgarian/Dominican crew sailed her to the Caribbean, where she arrived in Santo Domingo on August the 24th. See a beautiful video of her arrival on Youtube.

We wish the Armada de la Republica Dominicana fair winds and many happy years with Maria Trinidad Sanchez (ex Royal Helena).
